Hotel: M Social, SkyCity or similar.
Friday 22 Nov (B) Golf Day – Titirangi Golf Glub
Golfers get straight into it with a round of golf at Titirangi Golf Club Club, rated #14 in NZ by Australian Golf Digest for 2023/24. Designed by Alister MacKenzie, Titirangi represents a meticulous example of what is often referred to as the Golden Age of golf course architecture. Carts provided. After golf, we return to the hotel and the rest of the day is free. Try out the restaurants tonight in the Viaduct.
Non-golfers get the chance to explore Auckland – a trip up to the Museum or a bit of shopping perhaps.
Saturday 23 Nov (B) Golf Day – Muriwai
Golfers test their skills at Muriwai Golf Links. A true links course, with magnificent views of the Tasman Sea from many of its holes. You could be forgiven for thinking you are playing a traditional British links course! Rated #14 in NZ by Australian Golf Digest for 2023/24.
Today Non-golfers will have a wine and Food experience on Waiheke, a short ferry ride from the Waterfront. You will taste and sip from three vineyards on the island before returning to Auckland in the afternoon.
Sunday 24 Nov (B,L) Transfer Day – Hobbiton
Today after breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you will make your way down country to Taupo. On the way down you will stop in Matamata for a fully-guided tour around the 12 acre Hobbiton Movie Set. See Hobbit Holes, the Mill and the world-famous Green Dragon Inn, where you will be presented with a complimentary, exclusive hobbit “southfarthing” beverage to conclude your own Middle-earth adventure. Onward to Taupo.
Hotel: Hilton Taupo (or similar).
Monday 25 Nov (B) Golf Day - The Kinloch Club
Golfers play at Kinloch Club Golf Course, a world-class championship course that pays homage to the great links courses of the British Isles. Test your skill against challenges designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, one of the games most renowned strategic thinkers, as you tackle the course and take in stunning views overlooking the sparkling blue waters of Lake Taupo. Built along the base of volcanic slopes with fairways that ripple and rumble from side to side and a few greens that appear to be recessed into folds of the land, protected by manmade fault lines that look incredibly natural, like the ground had slumped following a tremor. Recognised as New Zealand’s #1 Golf Course in the ‘2023 World Golf Awards’ and ranked #4 in NZ by Australian Golf Digest for 2023/24.
Non-golfers have a tour today – either a trip out on the lake to see the Maori rock carvings, or to Huka Falls and other features around in the area. Evening at leisure in Taupo.
Tuesday 26 Nov (B) Golf Day – Wairakei
One of the most beautiful courses in the country, Wairakei is a wildlife sanctuary as well as a irresistible golf course. You are within 180 hectares of native flora and fauna amongst which is nestled one of New Zealand’s finest golf courses. Navigate your way through 18 testing holes of exceptional beauty and listen to the cacophony of birdlife, the meandering streams, the delightful waterfalls. Ranked #12 in NZ by Australian Golf Digest for 2023/24
Non-golfers may want to spend time today at the Thermal Pools (option).
Wednesday 27 Nov (B) Free Day
Time for everyone to unwind, have a rest and generally enjoy your surroundings in Taupo. There are many activities available which your host can help you with.
Thursday 28 Nov (B,L) Transfer Day – Napier
After breakfast and check out, you will make your way east to Napier, where you will arrive at Mission Estate in time for a two-course lunch (drinks at own cost). After lunch and maybe some wine tasting, you continue on into Napier. After checking into the hotel, there will be time to take a stroll around the town, or along the marine parade.
Hotel: Scenic Te Pania (or similar).
Friday 29 Nov (B,D) Golf Day – Cape Kidnappers
t’s fitting that your final golf day on the North Island is at Cape Kidnappers, ranked 55th in InsideGOLF’s Top 100 Courses in the World for 2023-24. Not a links, more like a stratospheric Pebble Beach, high atop a windswept plateau some 500 feet above the sea. The design truly demonstrates the lay-of-the-land philosophy of American architect Tom Doak, who ran holes out and back along a series of ridges perpendicular with the coastline, most framed by deep canyons. The fairways are wide, but Doak rewards bold tee shots that flirt with ravines and sets strategies using some of the deepest bunkers he has ever built
Ranked #14 in NZ by Australian Golf Digest for 2023/24.
Non-golfers can opt for a 90-minute spa treatment at the Cape Kidnappers Spa and enjoy the facilities there or have the day at leisure to wander around the Art Deco Quarter or take a guided walk that will help understand the history of the area.
Tonight we gather for dinner to farewell the travellers not continuing on to the South Island, and to celebrate the wins and the ‘if onlys’ of the last 10 days.
Saturday 30 Nov (B) Onward Bound
After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to Napier Airport for the start of your onward journey.
The tour is limited to 15 guests. Please book now to avoid disappointment.
