Garonga Safari Camp is an exclusive camp ideally positioned in the greater Makalali Conservancy. Makalali, meaning ‘Place of Rest’ in Shangaan, aims to create a sanctuary for the diversity of fauna and flora in the area and re-establish the ancient wildlife corridor that connects the Drakensberg Mountains with the Kruger National Park.

Visitors can look forward to soaking up magnificent views, spotting an abundance of wildlife and enjoying magical African sunsets. 

This private nature reserve boasts the Big 5 and guests are encouraged to take part in the insightful morning and afternoon game drives - the heart of the Garonga experience. Try your hand at every activity on offer, or simply laze in the hammock with a good book while watching the grazing impala.

The accommodation at Garonga Safari Camp comprises of six en-suite luxury tents ideally positioned in this exquisite safari landscape. Each of the tents is sculpted out of rough-plastered walls and overarching canvas. The tents overlook a dry riverbed, and have a wooden deck complete with hammock that commands spectacular views.

Each tent has and indoor as well as an outdoor shower, a ceiling fan and individual platform decks with hammocks. The rooms are light, airy and spacious with large, draped beds. Each room can accommodate a maximum of two children with two adults.

Garonga Sleep-Out Experience

The Sleep Out is an elevated viewing deck, boasting a four-poster bed, whereby guests can enjoy a private dinner overlooking a watering hole and spend the night alone in the bush. This intimate experience is ideal for travellers wanting to fully immerse themselves within nature and experience the peace and tranquillity it has to offer. Booking in advance is essential.
